Kingfisher Other Zulu Encounters on the Elephant Coast - make the most of your visit to our Destination

Let us link you with other community-based tourism entrepreneurs throughout this exciting region. Options include a walking tour to the top of Ghost Mountain (uTshaneni) at Mkhuze, a visit to a traditional healer (Sangoma), a canoe trip on the Muzi pan, or attend a church service on a Sunday, gain insight into the relationship between Zulu people and their cattle, or take part in traditional ceremonies (when available).

The natural and cultural diversity of the Elephant Coast is reflected in some of the attractions and activities listed below.

Greater St Lucia Wetland Park - South Africa's first World Heritage Site, made up of 5 distinct ecosystems with 240 kilometres of pristine coastline. 
Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve - One of Africa's oldest conservation areas and home to the Big 5. Famous for the conservation efforts of the White Rhino. 
Walking tours in communities - enjoy the experience of meeting local people in the rural areas in which they live. 
Canoe trails - a number of operators offer canoe trails on the Bhangazi Lake of the eastern shores of Lake St Lucia, on the Muzi Pan between Hluhluwe and Sodwana Bay and on the Kosi Lakes in the north. 
Bhanga Nek and Turtles - Three communities live in the land between the Indian Ocean and the Kosi Bay Lakes. Stay in their camps and go on turtle tours when they are nesting from December till February. 
Ancient Fish traps - The Communities near the Kosi Bay mouth have used a unique fish trap system to catch fish for centuries. 
Border Caves - situated in the Lubombo Mountains with fantastic views over Swaziland these caves are archaeologically the most significant in the province. 
Boat trip on lake St Lucia - enjoy sightings of hippos and crocodiles and learn about the mangrove ecosystems of the Lake. 
Whale tour - incredible whale sightings are offered from St Lucia from July toBdiving - the soft coral reefs at Sodwana Bay are the southern-most in Africa and offer an excellent aquatic adventure. 
Zululand Birding Route - for 'twitchers' and novice birders alike there are a number of local community guides who are able to give you a good introduction into the birding hotspots of the area.
